Two representatives of the Vontobel family and a Swiss Re manager have been put forward for election to the board of the Zurich-based private bank.

The board of Vontobel Holding decided to put forward for election to the board of directors Maja Baumann of Zurich law firm Reber and Bjoern Wettergren, partner at etventure Holding. The election will take place on April 19, 2016.

Maja Baumann and Bjoern Wettergren, who have both worked for Vontobel during their careers, will represent the fourth generation of the Vontobel and de la Cour families on the board.

The willingness to take up seats on the board underscores the families’ close ties to the company and their desire to maintain their significant influence on the company going forward in the interests of entrepreneurial freedom, the company said.

Swiss Re Representative

The bank also proposes David Cole, chief financial officer at Swiss Re, for election to the board. His appointment would strengthen the body by adding an independent member with extensive expertise as chief risk officer and CFO at several listed companies.

Meanwhile, Dominic Brenninkmeyer will stand down from his post on the board. He joined in 2013.
