Swiss bank Julius Baer has appointed a new head of Private Banking South East Asia and branch manager Singapore as the new regional CEO is leaving his mark on the organization.

Jimmy Lee, chief executive for Asia Pacific at Zurich-based Julius Baer, made his first appointments since taking up his position at the beginning of the year. He put Torsten Linke in charge of private banking in the South East Asian region, starting with immediate effect, the bank said in a statement. Subject to regulatory approval, he will also become branch manager in Singapore.

Linke will be responsible for Julius Baer’s operations and development in Singapore and expanding the bank’s presence and client base in South East Asia. He will report to Jimmy Lee, head of Asia Pacific at Baer.

Prior to joining Julius Baer, Linke was briefly with Credit Suisse in Singapore, spending a few months on the Indonesian team. Before that, he was market manager for Indonesia at Standard Chartered Private Bank. Linke has wide Asian experience having lived in Singapore for more than 13 years.

He will also continue to contribute his wealth of expertise by providing advice on strategic initiatives. In this new role, he will report directly to Jimmy Lee.

«Our South East Asia and Singapore businesses have seen significant growth in recent years,» Jimmy Lee said. «We are strongly committed to these markets.»
