Care for some representative offices typical for the traditional Swiss private bank? What used to be completely out of reach has now become available for short-term leases – the latest sign that the golden age of an industry has come to an end.

The distinguished luxury of the offices in Switzerland's financial heart – Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse – was a sure sign of the prestige of private banks. Much like the wine-and-dine culture and the discretion displayed in the treatment of the clients.

Much has changed in only a few years – Switzerland's strategy to stop banking with untaxed assets has pushed the industry to quickly adapt to the new demands. Their exclusive taste has also become available to others: In the «Gryffenhaus» at Bahnhofstrasse 10, Satellite Offices of Berlin is renting out offices and conference rooms, complete with secretary services.

Potential customers can rent the rooms for a day, weeks or months. The pictures on the Website of the real estate company are evidence of the typical atmosphere previously available to the rich clients of the private-banking industry only (pictures).

«Gryffenhaus» is part of the portfolio of PSP, a Zurich-based real estate company. The office block was renovated in 2013 with much attention to preserve the quality of the materials used. Dolce&Gabbana has opened a flagship store on the ground floor, underlining the first-class location of the building.

Satellite Office didn't want to say how much the offices in «Gryffenhaus» cost. Potential customers have to pay a fee to join a club before they get access to the offers. But evidently, you don't need to be ultra rich to rent the exclusive conference rooms and offices.

Incidentally: Banque Safdié, which catered mainly for client from Israel, used to have its offices on Bahnhofstrasse 10. The company was taken over by Bank Leumi Switzerland in 2011. Leumi in turn sold its Swiss daughter to Julius Baer – which still has its fine headquarters up the road on Bahnhofstrasse 36.
