Zurich, the Swiss insurer, has appointed a new head of its life insurance business in Switzerland. The manager will also take a seat on the board of Zurich's Swiss unit.

Zurich, the insurance giant, appointed Christine Theodorovics as head the company's Swiss life insurance business, it said in a statement today. The Vienna-born manager with a Swiss passport will also take a seat on the board of Zurich's Swiss unit and report to CEO Joachim Masur.

Theodorovics, 47, has been chief executive of the Global Life Austria unit since March 2013 and member of the board of Zurich Austria. Previously, she worked as head of business development of the Independent Financial Advisors and Brokers unit at the corporate center of Global Life Zurich.

Gienal New Head of Group Strategy

The manager acquired an MBA in Vienna, an MA in European Economic Studies at the College of Europe in Belgium as well as a banking degree at the Swiss Finance Institute in Zurich.

Theodorovics is taking the board membership of Claudio Gienal, who has been appointed head of group strategy, also starting on April 1.
