Glarner Kantonalbank has licensed out its digital mortgage platform, with Freiburger Kantonalbank as its first customer.

Freiburger Kantonalbank (FKB), a regional bank to the west of Bern, has started selling mortgages on a new online platform called «FriBenk», the company said in a statement today. It is using the technical knowhow from Glarner Kantonalbank (GLKB), which has licensed out its online-real-estate platform (hypomat.ch).

GLKB, which is based in one of Switzerland's smallest cantons in the mountainous region between Lake Zurich and Grisons, has made itself a name as the most digital of all Swiss banks with its services such as hypomat.ch and investomat.ch. Licensing the hypomat.ch to FKB, GLKB has now found a second customers for its advanced solutions after the cooperation with MoneyPark.

GLKB at the end of 2015 announced the agreement with MoneyPark, under which it licensed out the investomat.ch robo adviser. MoneyPark is using the technology of GLKB to market its online savings plans.

With FRiBenk, FKB will be able to offer its customers an answer to their mortgage requests within minutes, making it possible to offer rates with a discount of as much as 30 percent.
