French asset management company Carmignac Gestion wants to open a branch office in Zurich this year, as finews.ch revealed.

Marco_Fiorini_119The opening of the Zurich office is not fixed yet. It is sure, however, that the planned office under the guidance of Marco Fiorini (picture), who had worked for Clariden-Leu before, will initially employ at least four to five members of staff, as Eric Helderlé, managing director and co-founder of Carmignac Gestion explained to finews.ch this week.

A further extension of staff is not ruled out. Already last September Carmignac Gestion increased the team, which is in charge for Switzerland with two employees, as finews.ch had reported earlier.

Carmignac funds in Swiss francs

Fiorini is already responsible for the Swiss market. However, he works from Luxemburg and goes to Switzerland routinely.

The business potential in Switzerland is quite large compared to other markets in Europe, according to further explanations by Eric Helderlé. An approach towards Switzerland has already been taken earlier las year, when shares denominated in Swiss Franks had been introduced for different Carmignac funds.

Personal development

The French asset management company administered a total of 54 billion Euros in the end of 2012. Out of this amount, around 28 billion Euros are considered to be invested in the Flagship Fund Carmignac Patrimoine. The new net inflow was around 5 billion Euros last year.

Carmignac Gestion currently employs around 200 employees and remains in a huge expansion phase. After 13 further analysts and customer advisors have been employed last year, 20 new posts are about to follow within the first quarter of 2013.
