One of the founders of online trader Saxo Bank is leaving the company. A year ago, the head of Saxo Bank Switzerland together with the entire top management resigned.

Lars Seier Christensen (picture) will resign from his post on the board of Saxo Bank at the end of 2015, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. The co-founder and co-chief executive of the online trading institute will however keep his stake in the bank.

Co-founder Kim Fournais will be the sole chief executive. The board of the bank will be formed by Fournais, Steen Blaafalk, group chief financial and risk officer, and Soren Kyhl, group chief operating officer, Saxo Bank added.

Saxo Praise for Christensen

In November 2014, the entire management team of Saxo Bank Switzerland left due to strategic disagreements: Chief Executive Søren Mose, Chief Operating Officer Ian Keates and Chief Financial Officer Martin Beinhoff.

Christensen's resignation was known and the company praises the co-owner for his long-standing committment. His investment dates back to 1992 and he acted as co-CEO since 1995. He holds a 26 percent stake in Saxo Bank.
