Lombard Odier has appointed a well-known asset-management specialist as it bids to bolster its team in Zurich.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers (IM), the asset-management unit of Geneva-based Lombard Odier, said it hired Thomas Breitenmoser as head of sales in Zurich. His brief is to extend the presence of Lombard Odier IM in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.

Breitenmoser will serve institutional and wholesale clients as well as external distribution channels. His line manager is Carolina Minio-Paluello, global head of sales.

Previously at Zuercher Kantonalbank

The new head of sales at Lombard Odier in Zurich joins the private bank from Zuercher Kantonalbank (ZKB), where he was head of asset management sales. Previously, he worked at Swisscanto Asset Management before the company was taken over by ZKB. Breitenmoser also held positions at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Merrill Lynch Investment Management and Credit Suisse.

He holds an Executive MBA in Asset and Wealth Management of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and University of Lausanne.

Hiring Thomas Breitenmoser is proof of our intent to further build our business in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, said Carolina Minio-Paluello. Lombard Odier IM is based in Geneva and managed about $48 billion for its clients at the end of 2015.

ZKB meanwhile appointed Cristian Pappone as its new head of sales asset management. Pappone was the deputy of Breitenmoser and joined the bank in 2012.
