The investment arm of the Liechtenstein bank is hiring a Middle East expert to drive its business in the region.

Vaduz-based LGT is hiring Wael El Burji as managing director and senior executive officer to head and drive business in the Middle East, the bank said in an emailed statement Tuesday.

Prior to his appointment El Burji worked at Amundi Asset Management, where he dealt with institutional investors and led the third-party distribution business in the Middle East.

El Burji's hire «is a confirmation of our commitment to the region and to the partnerships we have built with our clients there,» managing partner Pius Fritschi said in the statement. The alternative investment specialist has $80 billion of assets under management, according to its website.
