The Geneva-based private bank is strengthening its fund business in the Gulf states with a specialist for institutional investors.

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management hires Fatima Asad-Bakhtiari as managing director and head of sales for the Middle East, the Geneva-based private bank announced Monday.

Her role in this newly created position is to develop and strengthen relationships with institutional clients in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in an increasingly strategic area.

Establishing a Presence

The countries include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Asad-Bakhtiari will be based in Dubai and responsible for building Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management's presence across the Middle East. She reports to the global head of distribution Marie Jacot.

She previously worked at US-based Wells Fargo Asset Management, raising  assets under management across equities, fixed income and hedge funds.
