Following its decision to fully integrate the Swiss business of Credit Suisse into UBS, both banks' boards of directors will be restructured beginning next month. Roger von Mentlen becomes chairman of both.

Until they are legally merged, their respective executive boards will manage Credit Suisse's Swiss business and UBS Switzerland. Roger von Mentlen takes over as chairman of both boards to «Ensure closely coordinated supervision» as they are restructured and harmonized, according to a statement on Friday.

In the runup to the legal merger expected to be completed next year, the dual mandate allows for what Credit Suisse says is the best possible coordination of supervision, given the decision to fully integrate its Swiss unit.

Four Decades at UBS

Von Mentlen held various roles during his more than 40 years at UBS, with ten of those as head of Personal Banking in Switzerland. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of UBS Switzerland AG since 2020.
