Asset manager Blackrock’s operating chief in Switzerland is leaving to become partner at a Zurich-based financial company, finews.ch has learned.

Christian Hinze has left Blackrock, the asset manager confirmed to finews.ch. He will become a partner at a Zurich-based financial company and support further growth as its chief operating officer. Hinze didn't disclose the name of his new employer.

Hinze, an investment specialist, joined Blackrock in 2012 following the company's takeover of Swiss Re Private Equity Partners.

Private Equity Specialist

Hinze was named deputy CEO of Blackrock Switzerland in May 2013, as well as chief operating officer. Before that, he was in senior management positions at Swiss Re, including as CEO of Swiss Re Private Equity Partners.

Hinze was responsible for various strategic transactions in Europe and the U.S. during his tenure at Swiss Re.

Successor Yet to Be Named

Prior to Swiss Re, Hinze was an adviser for Deloitte and Andersen for more than 10 years. He has been part of the Swiss Fund & Asset Management Association’s (SFAMA) leadership since May.

His successor at Blackrock has yet to be named.
