The American rating company has established a subsidiary in Switzerland: The offshoot apparently manages the international rights of Moody's.

The offices are located since last week in a commercial building at the Schützengraben 20, the name of the company officially registered in Schaffhausen is: «Moody's Analytics International Licensing Ltd.» The company was established late last year.

What the Moody's subsidiary in eastern Switzerland aims exactly, is unclear: The company refused to give an statements to «Handelszeitung», the Swiss business weekly that reportet first about the expansion to Schaffhausen. Therefore it remains quite unclear whether Moody's is going to create any jobs or to develop any significant operations out of this small town in Switzerland.

Collecting economic information

As a goal, the company mentioned in the «Schaffhauser Handelsamt» to manage and control «the use and exploitation of intangible assets from members and subsidiaries outside of North America» – so it is a licensing company. At the same time Moody's Analytics International also wants to «collect economic information in Switzerland and abroad».

The management of the enterprise consists of two trustees and Wilfrid Xoual, the Head of Business Development EMEA at Moody's.
