The man behind the digital revolution at Glarner Kantonalbank is joining Switzerland’s biggest telecommunications company. He will take much sought after fintech know-how along to Bern.

From the state-owned bank of one the Switzerland’s smallest regions to the biggest telecommunications company of the country: Ivan Buechi is taking a big step when he joins Swisscom in August 2017.

Buechi, 39, will assume the lead at the Digital Banking Platforms unit of Bern-based Swisscom. One of the projects his team is marketing is the eVoja digital advisory tool, which several cantonal have acquired to help their relationship managers during their meetings with clients.

The Face of Digitization

At Glarner Kantonalbank, Buechi was the face of the digital innovations the bank became known for and which earned the institute the title of ‘The Digital Bank of Switzerland’ two years in a row (awarded by finews.com).

As the head of the bank’s digital office and member of the directorate, Buechi was responsible for the introduction of an online mortgage tool – Hypomat – and a robo advisor – Investomat.

A Giant Financial Market Player

Swisscom expects Buechi to help with the development of eVoja, digital identification tools and its crowdfunding platform. The telecommunications company is a partner firm of 170 banks, providing ICT and digital services, making it a big player on the financial market.
