St. Galler Kantonalbank is poaching a consultant from Capco as its new digital chief. The move is set in train by the retirement of its long-standing technology boss.

The St. Gallen-based cantonal bank is naming Nils Reimelt as its new head of digital banking, effective January 1, it said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. Reimelt knows the Swiss bank well: he has advised and led projects on digital innovation in his current job as a digital transformation consultant in Zurich for Capco.

He replaces Falk Kohlmann in the job, who in turn is taking over SGKB's service center from next year, as well as joining top management. The bank's current head of information technology, Felix Buschor, is retiring, SGKB said.

Reimelt will be responsible for implementing a digital strategy as well as further developing the lender's digital offering, SGKB said. He has been with Capco for the past three years, and is currently also a partner in an active angel investor. In 2014, Reimelt co-founded insurance broker Knip.
