Numeus is selling part of its asset management unit to Schroders.

UK asset manager Schroders is buying a majority stake in Zug-based Numeus' asset management business «Forteus,» it said in a statement Tuesday first reported by «fnlondon».

The Zug-based asset manager focused on blockchain and digital assets will allow Schroders to offer tokenised funds to investors. It will be Schroders first move into the digital assets space, according to the report. 

Besides asset management, Numeus' business includes research, venture capital, market making, and algorithmic trading.

Catalyst for Change

«Blockchain will be a catalyst for fundamental change within asset management, financial services at large, and many other industries more broadly,» Schroders chief executive Peter Harrison said in the statement.

Numeus CEO Nobel Gulati, said « (The Schroders partnership) will enable us to serve investors who up until now have struggled to access robust investment opportunities in this fast-evolving asset class.»
