With this step, the Zurich-based bank makes an effort to strengthen market coverage in key Italian-speaking regions.

Julius Baer appointed Riccardo Corzani as the new market head for Italy in early September. He reports to Ettore Bonsignore, head of the subregion that comprises both the newly created Italy team under Corzani as well as Ticino, according to an announcement issued by the bank on Monday.

Corzani is moving to Baer from Credit Suisse, where he worked for seven years until its forced acquisition by UBS earlier this year. His last position there was as head of the Italy International and Monaco team that was part of the bank's international wealth management business. Before that, he worked at UBS for nine years covering the Turkish and Italian markets from Zurich and Lugano.

Corzani's career in banking started at Commerzbank in London and Milan, after which he joined Banca Aletti's investment banking division.

There will be two teams with several relationship managers reporting to Corzani. One is in Lugano and headed by Matteo Chiappara and the other is in Zurich under Nicola Ballabio
