The stock exchange business at SIX has been under interim management since Thomas Zeeb left at the beginning of the year. A new manager with international experience is appointed to take over beginning next year.

Bjørn Sibbern joins the Group Executive Board of Swiss financial infrastructure provider SIX and will head its exchange business starting January 1, according to a statement Thursday. He brings broad experience including trading, funds, post-trade, listings, IPOs, data, index business, and technology. He becomes responsible for the Swiss and Spanish exchanges at SIX, and the SDX digital exchange.

He currently serves as executive vice president and president of European Markets at Nasdaq, leading its markets and exchanges in the Nordic and Baltic regions. He also has diverse responsibilities for Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland.

Various Posts at Nasdaq

Sibbern was previously executive vice president for Global Information Services (GIS) at Nasdaq. He led its Global Commodities business and was president of the Nasdaq Copenhagen Exchange. Earlier in his career, he led the Nordic Cash Equities and Derivatives Markets at the exchange.

Prior to joining Nasdaq, he was head of trading at Stocknet Norway and CEO of E*TRADE Bank Denmark.

Successor to Thomas Zeeb

The position Sibbern will soon take over was previously held by Thomas Zeeb, who left the company in January, with Christoph Landis taking over on an interim basis. Landis returns to his previous role as head of IT and a member of the SIX Executive Board.
