Bank J. Safra Sarasin hires a team of no less than ten bond issuance experts from Credit Suisse.

J. Safra Sarasin is strengthening its bond capital markets business with a new team of ten. The new hires, including one woman, will be based in Zurich and focused on Swiss franc bond issuance and underwriting for issuers, the Brazilian-Swiss private bank announced Thursday.

The team, which started work on October 2, consists of Micha Peier and Alexander Schnurrer in syndication, Matthias Signorell, Frederic Colpo, and Simona Loretz for origination, Thomas Galestan and Oliver Keller in sales, Simon Engeli for trading, while Marco Diethelm and Joerg Nubbemeier join transaction advisory.

Decades of Fixed Income Experience

At the request of finews.com, J. Safra Sarasin confirmed all previously worked for Credit Suisse. In June, there was already chatter the private bank succeeded in bringing aboard various capital market professionals from Credit Suisse.

The specialists are said to have an excellent track record with over two decades of capital markets experience in fixed-income capital markets, the statement added. They've been the driving force behind several significant transactions in the Swiss capital markets in recent years.

Entire Value Chain

The team is organized to cover the entire fixed-income value chain, enabling the bank to offer issuers and investors a service based on origination, sales, secondary market-making, transaction advisory, and in-house documentation.

Suitable for Issuers and Investors?

The private bank sees the acquisition of the bond team as demonstrating its strong commitment to the Swiss financial market. «This development should be welcomed by the market as it enables the Swiss marketplace to remain competitive for issuers and investors,» says CEO Daniel Belfer.
