Thomas Steinemann (picture) starts his duties of the newly created position of a chief investment officer (CIO) at the private bank Bellerive Zurich on the 1st of February 2013. His new responsibilities cover areas of investment policy, research and portfolio management, as Bellerive revealed.

After his studies of economics at the University of Zurich, Steinemann started his professional career as an economist at the economic department of Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). At that time, he also completed his PhD at the University of Zurich with a critical analysis of the European Financial Union in 1992.

Different leading positions

Afterwards, he has worked in different leading positions at Credit Suisse for eight years, among others in the areas of treasury, brokerage research and economic research. Lastly, he has been chief strategist and head of multi asset class products at Bank Vontobel for 12 years.

Steinemann left Vontobel – which came as a surprise to many – last year in February. He is also a member of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research.

Private bank Bellerive has its headquarter in Zurich and provides wealth and asset management services for families, wealthy individual clients and institutional investors. The company is owned by private Swiss investors and the Graubündner Kantonalbank (GKB).
