The chief executive officer of Banque Cramer has left the bank with immediate effect, according to newspaper reports. The decision was preceded by a disagreement over strategy.

Cédric Anker has left Geneva-based Banque Cramer after one-and-a-half years as CEO. The chief executive and Massimo Esposito, the bank’s major shareholder, clashed about strategy, according to a report by «Tribune de Genève» (behind paywall). Esposito owns the bank via his holding firm Norinvest.

Anker has also sold his 5 percent stake in Norinvest, according to the report. Cramer has found an interim solution while it is looking for a permanent replacement.

An Experienced Manager

Anker is an experienced bank executive with a past both at Credit Suisse and UBS. He was head of the Geneva branch of Bank Vontobel from 2006 through 2010, when he assumed responsibility for the wealth management of Mirabaud.

Christian Gruetter, Anker’s predecessor as CEO at Cramer, had left the bank in 2017 after three years in charge.

Consolidation in Private Banking

In recent years, Cramer has become active in the consolidation in Swiss private banking. It bought Valartis Bank in 2014 and A.M.&C. Finance in January.
